Product Description
The Digital Visual Interface (DVI) provides a high-speed digital connection for visual data types. The interface is primarily focused at providing a connection between PCs and flat panel displays, digital CRT displays, projectors, and HDTV. The DVI specification meets the needs of all segments of the PC industry (workstations, desktops, laptops, etc.) and will enable these different segments to unite around one monitor interface standard.
The maximum signal length of Standard DVI cables is 5 meters. Cables may experience quality signal loss if over 5 meters (16.5 feet).

THREE TYPES OF DVI CABLES
DVI-D - Digital Video
DVI-D is used for digital connections between video cards and digital LCD monitors. DVI-D provides a faster and higher-quality image than analog signal.
DVI-D cables are only compatible with DVI-D cables. Fully compliant with the DVI standard defined by DDWG (Digital Display Working Group)
DVI-A - Analog Video
DVI-A transmits a DVI signal to an analog display (CRT monitor or an HDTV). Unfortunately the DVI-A cable loses signal quality when you convert digital to analog, but the picture quality is higher than the standard VGA Cable.
DVI-A cables are only compatible with DVI-A cables.
DVI-I - Digital/Analog
DVI-I is capable of transmitting a digital-to-digital signal or analog-to-analog signal. The DVI-I is not capable of transmitting a digital-to-analog or analog-to-digital signal. The DVI-I cables are compatible with DVI-D and DVI-A cables.
